How to deploy FTTx Networks?

How to deploy FTTx Networks? : In order to deploy FTTX Network it is important to first know the scenario of deployment. In which area, what type of demand is there, how many customers are there, what is the building size, and how much is the important customer. For deployment of FTTx network, design and planning based on WDM PON networks and the feasibility.

In this article, it will be discuss the deployment of FTTX network at some important places like Hospital area, Business offices area, Residential area, Mall and school area, Buildings area. These areas that will need a new generation FTTX network for meet their needs.
FTTX Network Deployment

FTTX Network for the Hospital area

Suppose that hospital area is located at 2-3 km from SPLITTER and therefore a total of 7-8 km from the central office. It will come with a link in the region that will support GPON up to 1,244 Gbps symmetrical and provide LAN and Wi-Fi access to all key points of the hospital. It will cover diverse applications for essential services such as broadband internet, HDTV, VoIP, telemedicine and real-time control.
FTTX Network

FTTX Network for Business offices area

It is an extension of the commercial sector, where it will build two office buildings, each with 15 offices, with a total of 30 offices. Each of these offices will require services such as broadband internet, HD videoconference FTP, VoIP, cloud computing that will be 75 Mbps enough for today and for future forecasts.

Therefore, the required bandwidth for these 30 offices would be 2250 Mbps, hence the FTTB design with 2.488 Mbps. The symmetric GPON link will be sufficient to meet all needs.

FTTX Network for Residential area

It is often estimated that there are 20 single-family homes in the residential area and those are located 1 km from optical SPLITTER and 6 km from OLT, which will demand the last generation triple play service. Residential area FTTX services may include:

1. Broadcast:
2 HDTV channels: 2 * 15 Mbps = 30 Mbps
1 3D channel: 50 Mbps

2. Real-time applications:
HD videoconference: 7 Mbps
Online games: 1 Mbps
Home automation, VoIP, audio… 2 Mbps

3. Broadband internet:
Web, mail, P2P… 10 Mbps

Total requirement per household of 100 Mbps and therefore it will need a bandwidth of 100Mbps/user x 20user 2 Gbps to provide this service to all users. Keeping in mind the need, it just requirement of GPON link with 2,488 Gbps downstream and 1,244 Gbps upstream.
FTTX Residential

FTTX Network for Mall and School area

In the residential area where there is a school and a shopping mall. The area is 1 km from optical SPLITTER and therefore 6 km from the central office. The services will require broadband internet access from a local area network (LAN) in various classrooms, with Wi-Fi service in addition to schools, VoIP and broadband internet, which allow malls and various mall shops and restaurants in addition to VoIP and HDTV. will be given.

The bandwidth of all of this depends on the number of outlets that want to get the service, but with a symmetrical 1.244 Gbps GPON connection will be sufficient to supply the entire region.

Infrastructure development will be shared from the optical fiber to the splitter that will be located in the area and it will distribute traffic to the two buildings that will be equipped with LAN access at the school and other LANs and Wi-Fi at the mall.

FTTX Network for Buildings area

Lastly is the last area that will serve our passive optical network. It is an extension of the area of   buildings in which it will be constructed of two buildings: the first with 5 floors consisting of 10 houses, and the second with 6 floors and 12 apartments. Talking about the services they need, it will be similar to residential users, namely the next generation triple play service which will include:

Broadcast:
No. of 2 HDTV channels: 2 x15 Mbps = 30 Mbps
No. of 1 3D channel: 50 Mbps

Real-time applications:
HD videoconference: 7 Mbps
Online games: 1 Mbps
Home automation, VoIP, audio… 2 Mbps

Broadband internet:
Web, mail, P2P… 10 Mbps

Each apartments need 100 Mbps and therefore a total bandwidth of 100Mbps/user x 22 users = 2.2Gbps to provide all users.

This can be resolved through access to FTTBs with a GPON link with 2,488 Gbps downstream and 1,244 Gbps upstream. With a splitter the signal will be split and it will reach the corresponding MDU, which will distribute the connection to the entire building via a LAN.

Last Word

Dear friends, the deployment of FTTX Network has been written in a very simple way which is full of information. I have tried to give the best possible information about the FTTX deployment, if you like this article "How to deploy FTTx Networks?", then please like and share it.
